spermine and Trypanosomiasis, African

spermine has been researched along with Trypanosomiasis, African in 3 studies

Trypanosomiasis, African: A disease endemic among people and animals in Central Africa. It is caused by various species of trypanosomes, particularly T. gambiense and T. rhodesiense. Its second host is the TSETSE FLY. Involvement of the central nervous system produces African sleeping sickness. Nagana is a rapidly fatal trypanosomiasis of horses and other animals.

"DL-alpha-Difluoromethylornithine, a polyamine biosynthesis inhibitor, and bleomycin, a currently used antineoplastic agent, have each previously been shown to be curative for acute short-term infections of mice with Trypanosoma brucei brucei, an African trypanosome closely related to those that cause the human disease African sleeping sickness."3.66Efficacy of combinations of difluoromethylornithine and bleomycin in a mouse model of central nervous system African trypanosomiasis.
