sotalol and Cardiovascular Pregnancy Complications

sotalol has been researched along with Cardiovascular Pregnancy Complications in 7 studies

Sotalol: An adrenergic beta-antagonist that is used in the treatment of life-threatening arrhythmias.
sotalol : A sulfonamide that is N-phenylmethanesulfonamide in which the phenyl group is substituted at position 4 by a 1-hydroxy-2-(isopropylamino)ethyl group. It has both beta-adrenoreceptor blocking (Vaughan Williams Class II) and cardiac action potential duration prolongation (Vaughan Williams Class III) antiarrhythmic properties. It is used (usually as the hydrochloride salt) for the management of ventricular and supraventricular arrhythmias.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In the case of atrial flutters the pregnant woman is treated with sotalol administered orally and, if no sinus rhythm is obtained nor a reduced ventricular rhythm occurs, subsequently with digoxin."4.81[Protocols for the treatment of supraventricular tachycardias in the fetus]. " Investigators have hoped that these drugs would be as effective as sotalol and amiodarone but have fewer adverse effects."2.40The side effect profile of class III antiarrhythmic drugs: focus on d,l-sotalol. ( MacNeil, DJ, 1997)
