serine and Uremia
serine has been researched along with Uremia in 15 studies
Serine: A non-essential amino acid occurring in natural form as the L-isomer. It is synthesized from GLYCINE or THREONINE. It is involved in the biosynthesis of PURINES; PYRIMIDINES; and other amino acids.
serine : An alpha-amino acid that is alanine substituted at position 3 by a hydroxy group.
Uremia: A clinical syndrome associated with the retention of renal waste products or uremic toxins in the blood. It is usually the result of RENAL INSUFFICIENCY. Most uremic toxins are end products of protein or nitrogen CATABOLISM, such as UREA or CREATININE. Severe uremia can lead to multiple organ dysfunctions with a constellation of symptoms.

" From a stimulation of endogenous hepatic proteolysis, acceleration of amino acid transport into the liver cell, and activation of L-serine-dehydratase and other key enzymes of amino acid metabolism, an increased supply of substrate for gluconeogenesis can be expected, thus leading to enhanced formation of glucose by the liver in acute uremia." | 3.66 | [Stimulation of hepatic gluconeogenesis from amino acids in acute uremia].
