reserpine and Necrosis

reserpine has been researched along with Necrosis in 35 studies

Reserpine: An alkaloid found in the roots of Rauwolfia serpentina and R. vomitoria. Reserpine inhibits the uptake of norepinephrine into storage vesicles resulting in depletion of catecholamines and serotonin from central and peripheral axon terminals. It has been used as an antihypertensive and an antipsychotic as well as a research tool, but its adverse effects limit its clinical use.
reserpine : An alkaloid found in the roots of Rauwolfia serpentina and R. vomitoria.

Necrosis: The death of cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury or failure of the blood supply.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Excessive doses of pancreatic enzymes in combination with agents that increased intestinal permeability (oleic acid, reserpine) were associated with intestinal eosinophilia and necrosis of the jejunoileal muscle layer and inflammatory nodules in the liver, which increased with duration of insult."3.70The effect of intestinal permeability on pancreatic enzyme-induced enteropathy in the rat. ( Arango, V; Fusaro, A; Kimura, RE; Lloyd-Still, JD; Uhing, MR, 1998)
