reserpine and Inadequate Sleep

reserpine has been researched along with Inadequate Sleep in 16 studies

Reserpine: An alkaloid found in the roots of Rauwolfia serpentina and R. vomitoria. Reserpine inhibits the uptake of norepinephrine into storage vesicles resulting in depletion of catecholamines and serotonin from central and peripheral axon terminals. It has been used as an antihypertensive and an antipsychotic as well as a research tool, but its adverse effects limit its clinical use.

" On the contrary, suppression of EEG delta power using a wake-promoting agent modafinil significantly attenuated mechanical allodynia."3.96High cortical delta power correlates with aggravated allodynia by activating anterior cingulate cortex GABAergic neurons in neuropathic pain mice. ( Ge, J; Hong, ZY; Huang, ZL; Lazarus, M; Li, YD; Luo, YJ; Qu, WM; Wang, J; Xu, W, 2020)
" The dose-response relationship shifted to the left following REMs deprivation (ED50 values in the group-housed, isolated, and REMs-deprived mice were 250, 200, and 27 micrograms/kg, respectively)."1.29Monoamine depletion attenuates the REM sleep deprivation-induced increase in clonidine response in the forced swimming test.
