quinacrine and Postoperative Complications

quinacrine has been researched along with Postoperative Complications in 8 studies

Quinacrine: An acridine derivative formerly widely used as an antimalarial but superseded by chloroquine in recent years. It has also been used as an anthelmintic and in the treatment of giardiasis and malignant effusions. It is used in cell biological experiments as an inhibitor of phospholipase A2.
quinacrine : A member of the class of acridines that is acridine substituted by a chloro group at position 6, a methoxy group at position 2 and a [5-(diethylamino)pentan-2-yl]nitrilo group at position 9.

Postoperative Complications: Pathologic processes that affect patients after a surgical procedure. They may or may not be related to the disease for which the surgery was done, and they may or may not be direct results of the surgery.

"We used intrapleural instillation of quinacrine hydrochloride in 20 patients (Group A) with recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax (one bilateral) and compared their clinical course with 19 patients who underwent thoracotomy and scarification or pleurectomy (Group B) and 63 patients treated by tube thoracostomy alone (Group C)."7.66Intrapleural instillation of quinacrine for treatment of recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax. ( Derrick, JR; Larrieu, AJ; O'Neill, MJ; Tyers, GF; Williams, EH, 1979)
"A total of 121 pleurodeses using instillations of quinacrine (mepacrine) in patients with recurrent pleural effusion were performed."7.66Treatment of recurrent pleural effusion by pleurodesis with quinacrine. Comparison between instillation by repeated thoracenteses and by tube drainage. ( Korsgaard, R; Simonsson, BG; Stiksa, G, 1979)
