pyridoxine and Bilateral Headache

pyridoxine has been researched along with Bilateral Headache in 12 studies

4,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylpyridin-3-ol: structure in first source
vitamin B6 : Any member of the group of pyridines that exhibit biological activity against vitamin B6 deficiency. Vitamin B6 deficiency is associated with microcytic anemia, electroencephalographic abnormalities, dermatitis with cheilosis (scaling on the lips and cracks at the corners of the mouth) and glossitis (swollen tongue), depression and confusion, and weakened immune function. Vitamin B6 consists of the vitamers pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine and their respective 5'-phosphate esters (and includes their corresponding ionized and salt forms).

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" A randomized, triple-blinded controlled trial of 124 women was done to evaluate the effect of taking 150 mg of vitamin B6 daily for 30 days on the severity of nausea, headache, vomiting, dizziness, depression, and irritability associated with the initiation of low-dose (30 micrograms norgestrel and 30 micrograms ethinyl estradiol) OG use."5.08Effect of vitamin B6 on the side effects of a low-dose combined oral contraceptive. ( Grubb, GS; Juárez-Perez, MA; Ponce de León, R; Villegas-Salas, E, 1997)
" Is pyridoxine safe for long-term use in large segments of the population, including children? The studies on children with Down's syndrome and autism, utilizing much higher doses than are used for other therapeutic purposes, seem to indicate relative safety if carefully monitored."2.38Vitamin B6 in clinical neurology. ( Bernstein, AL, 1990)
"Treatment with pyridoxine and betaine normalised her homocysteine levels and she has had no further thrombotic event since."1.46Cerebral venous thrombosis as the first presentation of classical homocystinuria in an adult patient. ( Dawson, C; Geberhiwot, T; Senthil, L; Woods, E, 2017)
" Reduction of dosage has an equivocal effect on gynaecological side affects-some increase, some decrease."1.26Human metabolism and steroid contraceptives. Part 2. ( Briggs, MH, 1977)
