Acute onset of a vesiculopustular rash in an ICU patient.
    Dermatology online journal, 2014, Jan-15, Volume: 20, Issue:1

A 63 year-old woman with hyperthyroidism was admitted to the Medical Intensive Care Unit for ARDS following damage to her lungs from propylthiouracil. She was placed on 250 mg SSKI PO TID as an alternative therapy until thyroidectomy could be performed. Four days after admission, she abruptly developed an acneiform rash on her face, shown to be iododerma. The eruption rapidly resolved after discontinuation of the SSKI.

Cardiovascular manifestations of thyroid storm: a case report.
The Journal of emergency medicine, 2003, Volume: 25, Issue:1

We present a case of thyroid storm manifesting as supraventricular tachycardia with cardiopulmonary dysfunction. Our patient presented with severe cardiopulmonary symptoms (tachycardia, respiratory distress, and pulmonary edema) refractory to standard medical treatment. When the diagnosis of thyroid storm was made and proper treatment initiated, our patient had a prompt and appropriate response.

Recurrent adult respiratory distress-like syndrome associated with propylthiouracil therapy.
The European respiratory journal, 1991, Volume: 4, Issue:7

We report a patient who presented with an association between propylthiouracil treatment and recurrent episodes of an adult respiratory distress-like syndrome (ARDS). The bouts of ARDS were associated with a generalized reaction suggestive of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), responsive to corticosteroid therapy.
