procarbazine and Hyperplasia of Thymus Gland

procarbazine has been researched along with Hyperplasia of Thymus Gland in 6 studies

Procarbazine: An antineoplastic agent used primarily in combination with mechlorethamine, vincristine, and prednisone (the MOPP protocol) in the treatment of Hodgkin's disease.
procarbazine : A benzamide obtained by formal condensation of the carboxy group of 4-[(2-methylhydrazino)methyl]benzoic acid with the amino group of isopropylamine. An antineoplastic chemotherapy drug used for treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma. Metabolism yields azo-procarbazine and hydrogen peroxide, which results in the breaking of DNA strands.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Thymic hyperplasia was noted after treatment was initiated or completed in all but two patients; and all did well, with one exception: a 17 year-old boy who was inadvertently treated for relapsed Hodgkin disease and who died of fibrinous pneumonitis and nocardia, with pathologic CR noted at autopsy."2.38Thymic hyperplasia with hemorrhage simulating recurrent Hodgkin disease after chemotherapy-induced complete remission. ( Erner, SM; Keller, SM; Langer, CJ, 1992)
"Of the 13 cases, 5 were Hodgkin's disease (HD), and 8 were non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL)."1.33[Clinical analysis of reactive thymic hyperplasia following chemotherapy for childhood malignant lymphoma]. ( Ling, JY; Sun, XF; Wang, ZH; Xia, Y; Zhen, ZJ, 2006)
