probenecid and Bilirubinemia

probenecid has been researched along with Bilirubinemia in 6 studies

Probenecid: The prototypical uricosuric agent. It inhibits the renal excretion of organic anions and reduces tubular reabsorption of urate. Probenecid has also been used to treat patients with renal impairment, and, because it reduces the renal tubular excretion of other drugs, has been used as an adjunct to antibacterial therapy.
probenecid : A sulfonamide in which the nitrogen of 4-sulfamoylbenzoic acid is substituted with two propyl groups.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The effect of hyperbilirubinemia on the function of tissue efflux transporters such as multidrug resistance-associated proteins (Mrps) and organic anion transporting polypeptides (Oatps) was examined by measuring tissue accumulation of 2,4-dinitrophenyl-S-glutathione (DNP-SG) after intravenous administration of 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB), a precursor of DNP-SG, in rats."7.76Modulated function of tissue efflux transporters under hyperbilirubinemia in rats. ( Mori, N; Murakami, T; Yokooji, T, 2010)
" In addition, characterization of the UGT1A locus and genetic studies directed at understanding the role of bilirubin glucuronidation and the biochemical basis of the clinical symptoms found in unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia have uncovered the structural gene polymorphisms associated with Crigler-Najjar's and Gilbert's syndrome."4.80Human UDP-glucuronosyltransferases: metabolism, expression, and disease. ( Strassburg, CP; Tukey, RH, 2000)
"Hyperbilirubinemia, which is involved under various disease states, may increase the small intestinal accumulation and toxicities of methotrexate, since high plasma concentrations of conjugated bilirubin can suppress the function of multidrug resistance-associated proteins, which facilitate the efflux of methotrexate out of cells."3.77Modulated pharmacokinetics and increased small intestinal toxicity of methotrexate in bilirubin-treated rats. ( Mori, N; Murakami, T; Yokooji, T, 2011)
