Prasugrel as alternative treatment strategy in a case with a hypersensitivity reaction to clopidogrel. Platelets, 2011, Volume: 22, Issue:1 We report a case with a hypersensitivity reaction to clopidogrel that resolved after clopidogrel discontinuation and recurred on rechallenge. The reaction included fever, tachycardia, rash and mild angioedema. As an alternative to clopidogrel, the more potent thienopyridine prasugrel was administered without any signs of an allergic reaction in the hours, days and weeks following administration. We report a case with a hypersensitivity reaction to clopidogrel that resolved after clopidogrel discontinuation and recurred on rechallenge.
