practolol and Hyperthyroidism

practolol has been researched along with Hyperthyroidism in 13 studies

Practolol: A beta-1 adrenergic antagonist that has been used in the emergency treatment of CARDIAC ARRYTHMIAS.
practolol : N-(4-Hydroxyphenyl)acetamide in which the hydrogen of the phenolic hydroxy group is substituted by a 3-(isopropylaminoamino)-2-hydroxypropyl group. A selective beta blocker, it has been used in the emergency treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Hyperthyroidism: Hypersecretion of THYROID HORMONES from the THYROID GLAND. Elevated levels of thyroid hormones increase BASAL METABOLIC RATE.

"A thyrotoxic patient presented with urticaria and this appeared to respond to beta-blockade with practolol."3.65Urticaria and hyperthyroidism. ( Garretts, M; Pace, JL, 1975)
"Propranolol and practolol were equally effective, and better than placebo, at relieving the patients general well-being as well as the tachycardia, subjective and objective tremor, skin warmness and moistness and the intensity of the thyroid bruit."2.64The effects of propranolol, practolol, and placebo on the clinical manifestations of thyrotoxicosis.
