[Retrovesical leiomyosarcoma responsive to preoperative chemoradiotherapy: a case report].
A 70-year-old man with dysuria was referred to our hospital. Computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a large solid tumor in the retrovesical space. Transurethral needle biopsy revealed leiomyosarcoma. Since the size of the tumor decreased markedly by intraarterial chemotherapy with cisplatin, methotrexate and pirarubicin, in combination with radiotherapy (40 Gy), surgical extirpation of the tumor was performed. Neither infiltration to the adjacent organs or lymph node metastasis was recognized. The patient had been free of recurrence for 12 months after operation. Topics: Aged; Antineoplastic Combined Chemotherapy Protocols; Brachytherapy; Cisplatin; Doxorubicin; Humans; Infant; Leiomyosarcoma; Male; Methotrexate; Urinary Bladder | 1997 |

Treatment of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma with cisplatin, pirarubicin, and ifosfamide.
We present the unusual case of a 27-year-old Japanese woman who exhibited recurrences of metastatic tumors from uterine leiomyosarcoma after five operations. Chemotherapy with cisplatin, pirarubicin, and cyclophosphamide was ineffective. Substituting ifosfamide for cyclophosphamide, we obtained a complete response. The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) in the United States has recognized the efficacy of ifosfamide and mesna in the treatment of patients with advanced or recurrent uterine sarcomas. Here we report on the efficacy of ifosfamide in addition to cisplatin and pirarubicin. Topics: Adult; Antineoplastic Combined Chemotherapy Protocols; Cisplatin; Doxorubicin; Female; Humans; Ifosfamide; Immunosuppressive Agents; Leiomyosarcoma; Neoplasm Recurrence, Local; Remission Induction; Uterine Neoplasms | 1997 |
[A case of pulmonary metastasis of ovarian leiomyosarcoma responsive to CTP therapy].
One case of pulmonary metastasis of leiomyosarcoma responsive to CTP therapy was reported. The patient was a 44-year-old woman who had undergone total simple hysterectomy for uterine myoma 6 years before. Five years after the operation she underwent ovariectomy for ovarian tumor. Based on the histopathological findings, she was diagnosed to have leiomyosarcoma. One year later the patient was referred to use because of pulmonary metastasis. After admission to our hospital CTP therapy was started. Disappearance of the metastatic lesion was demonstrated by the chest X-ray findings at the end of five courses of treatment. Topics: Adult; Antineoplastic Combined Chemotherapy Protocols; Cisplatin; Cyclophosphamide; Doxorubicin; Female; Humans; Leiomyosarcoma; Lung Neoplasms; Ovarian Neoplasms | 1992 |
[A case of unresectable liver metastasis from leiomyosarcoma of the stomach successfully treated by intra hepato-arterial chemotherapy with Infuse-A-Port].
This report describes a 55-year-old man who had a curative operation for leiomyosarcoma of the stomach 6 years ago. Unresectable liver metastases was discovered during the second laparotomy and successfully treated by intra hepato-arterial chemotherapy, which included MMC, ADM and Therarubicin with Infuse-A-Port. He remains well presently with a decrease in the size of the liver metastases and no metastasis to any other organs upon investigation by an abdominal CT 2 years and 2 months after the second laparotomy. Topics: Antineoplastic Combined Chemotherapy Protocols; Doxorubicin; Fluorouracil; Hepatic Artery; Humans; Infusion Pumps, Implantable; Infusions, Intra-Arterial; Leiomyosarcoma; Liver Neoplasms; Male; Middle Aged; Mitomycin; Mitomycins; Picibanil; Stomach Neoplasms | 1990 |
