phenytoin and Hodgkin Disease

phenytoin has been researched along with Hodgkin Disease in 21 studies

Hodgkin Disease: A malignant disease characterized by progressive enlargement of the lymph nodes, spleen, and general lymphoid tissue. In the classical variant, giant usually multinucleate Hodgkin's and REED-STERNBERG CELLS are present; in the nodular lymphocyte predominant variant, lymphocytic and histiocytic cells are seen.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Following treatment with antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), the patient developed several rare complications: after beginning therapy with phenytoin, the patient developed pseudolymphoma; after monotherapy with carbamazepine (CBZ), the patient thereafter developed myoclonic jerks of upper and lower limbs upon awakening; after one year of treatment with valproate (VPA) the patient developed clinical and immuno-haematological signs of SLE."3.69Clinical case report: multiple idiosyncratic adverse effects of antiepileptic drugs in trisomy 9p. ( Diomedi, M; Gigli, GL; Masala, C; Placidi, F; Pomponi, MG; Scalise, A; Silvestri, G, 1996)
"Diagnosis of Hodgkin's disease was made in a patient who had been treated with diphenylhydantoin sodium for 4 years."1.26[Hodgkin's disease following treatment with hydantoins. Report of a case and review of the literature (author's transl)]. ( Bladé Creixenti, J; García San Miguel, J; Nogué Xarau, S; Segura Porta, F; Soriano Marín, E, 1980)
"The occurrence of angioimmunoblastic lymphadenopathy, Hodgkin's disease or IgG-lambda multiple myeloma is described in four patients receiving chronic diphenylhydantoin (DILANTIN) therapy."1.26Lymphoproliferative disorders in four patients receiving chronic diphenylhydantoin therapy: etiologic correlation or chance association?
