Cytodiagnosis of chondroid syringoma-Series of three cases.
    Diagnostic cytopathology, 2021, Volume: 49, Issue:9

Chondroid syringoma is a rare, benign, appendegeal neoplasm. It was initially termed as mixed tumor as it comprises both epithelial cells and chondromyxoid stroma. It usually presents as a slow growing, solitary, painless, subcutaneous, or intracutaneous mass, frequently in the head and neck region. Cytological features usually include the presence of both components, similar to histology but aspiration of only one component or atypical features can pose challenges in diagnosis. According to literature, only a few single case reports describing the cytological features of chondroid syringoma has been published. We report three cases of chondroid syringoma and its differential diagnosis on cytology.

Asymptomatic flesh-colored lobular nodule on the nose.
    Dermatology online journal, 2018, Feb-15, Volume: 24, Issue:2

Chondroid syringoma is a rare benign tumor of the skin appendages. Chondroid syringoma is mostly manifested by a slow-growing, painless, well defined subcutaneous or intradermal nodule. A 43-year-old man presented to our clinic with the complaint of an asymptomatic nodule on the dorsum of the nose for 8 months. The lesion was totally excised. Histopathological examination was notable for epithelial islets embedded in the chondroid matrix in the dermis. The patient was diagnosed with chondroid syringoma in light of the clinical and histopathological findings.

Endoscopic-Assisted Palatal Surgery Via Transoral and Intranasal Approach.
The Journal of craniofacial surgery, 2017, Volume: 28, Issue:2

Palate carcinoma often challenges to the treatment options. It depends on the histologic type, local invasion, and nodal or distant metastasis. Hard palate tumors that invade the nasal cavity can be operated by midfacial degloving approach, lateral rhinotomy approach, and lip splitting incision with infrastructure maxillectomy. These approaches inevitably coincide with facial scars, nerve injuries, facial swelling, and long hospital stay. Transoral robotic assisted surgery can be applied; however, this needs high price and has a weakness of accurate handling about intranasal lesion. The authors have performed transoral and intranasal endoscopic-assisted palatal removal of recurrent palatal carcinoma for a patient and herein report their technique and result.

Facial mimicry after conservative parotidectomy: a three-dimensional optoelectronic study.
International journal of oral and maxillofacial surgery, 2012, Volume: 41, Issue:8

Facial nerve paralysis is one of several possible complications following conservative parotidectomy. To assess three-dimensional facial movements non-invasively in patients with unilateral facial palsy following parotidectomy for benign tumours, the three-dimensional coordinates of 21 soft-tissue facial landmarks were recorded in 32 patients (21 HB I, 5 HB II, 6 HB III-IV; 3 months post-surgery follow-up), and 40 control subjects, during the performance of facial movements (smile, 'surprise', eye closure, single eye closure). For all symmetric animations, control subjects had larger total mobility than patients; mobility progressively decreased in patients with larger clinical grades. For asymmetric eye closures, HB I patients and control subjects had similar total movements, while HB II patients had smaller movements, especially for the paretic side eye closure; smaller total movements were found in HB III-IV patients. The method allowed the quantitative detection of alterations in facial movements. Significant differences between patients and control subjects in the magnitude and asymmetry of movements were found.

Chondroid syringoma: report of two cases in young patients.
    Dermatology online journal, 2011, Dec-15, Volume: 17, Issue:12

Chondroid syringoma (CS) is a relatively rare cutaneous tumor arising from sweat glands. It usually presents in the head and neck area as an asymptomatic nodule. Although usually it presents in middle aged or older patients, we here present two much younger patients with CS, located over the nose and cheek areas, respectively.

The transfacial approach to the postnasal space and retromaxillary structures.
The British journal of oral & maxillofacial surgery, 1991, Volume: 29, Issue:4

Various surgical approaches to the region are discussed, and the procedure according to Hernandez Altemir (1986) described in detail. Six cases are presented to illustrate how this versatile osteoplastic technique may be adapted for individual patients.

Intranasal mixed tumors (pleomorphic adenomas): a clinicopathologic study of 40 cases.
American journal of clinical pathology, 1977, Volume: 68, Issue:2

The clinical, gross, and microscopic features of 40 cases of intranasal mixed tumor (pleomorphic adenoma) are reviewed and studied. The majority of these neoplasms originate from the mucosa of the bony or cartilaginous septum; they also occur on the lateral nasal wall. They may be found at any age, but the majority of our cases occurred in persons in the third through sixth decades of life. There was no significant sex predilection. All patients whose race was recorded (35) were Caucasian. The patients commonly had symptoms of nasal obstruction or the presence of a mass in the nasal cavity, or both. Clinically, the lesions were not unique, frequently being described only as polypoid, broad-based swellings. Microscopically, although similar to mixed tumors of major salivary glands, these tumors differed by being highly cellular (epithelial), with little or no stromal component, and thus simulated more aggressive epithelial neoplasms. Follow-up data (mean 7.5 years) in 34 of the 40 cases showed no evidence to suggest aggressive behavior. Thirty-one of the 34 cases followed showed no recurrence, regardless of the type of excisional procedure used. Those that did recur were either persistent from inadequate primary excisions (2 cases) or recurred locally (1) and were removed without sequelae. Local but adequate excision appears to be the treatment of choice.
