phenobarbital and Leukemia, Lymphoid

phenobarbital has been researched along with Leukemia, Lymphoid in 3 studies

Phenobarbital: A barbituric acid derivative that acts as a nonselective central nervous system depressant. It potentiates GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID action on GABA-A RECEPTORS, and modulates chloride currents through receptor channels. It also inhibits glutamate induced depolarizations.
phenobarbital : A member of the class of barbiturates, the structure of which is that of barbituric acid substituted at C-5 by ethyl and phenyl groups.

Leukemia, Lymphoid: Leukemia associated with HYPERPLASIA of the lymphoid tissues and increased numbers of circulating malignant LYMPHOCYTES and lymphoblasts.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Dose-response curves with and without phenobarbital pretreatment showed a constant 90% (1-log) reduction in the toxicity of cyclophosphamide to leukemic colony-forming units, whereas enzyme induction had no effect on the toxicity of the drug to normal bone marrow colony-forming units."1.26The effect of phenobarbital on cyclophosphamide antitumor activity.
