phenazopyridine has been researched along with Urinary Retention in 5 studies
Phenazopyridine: A local anesthetic that has been used in urinary tract disorders. Its use is limited by problems with toxicity (primarily blood disorders) and potential carcinogenicity.
phenazopyridine : A diaminopyridine that is 2,6-diaminopyridine substituted at position 3 by a phenylazo group. A local anesthetic that has topical analgesic effect on mucosa lining of the urinary tract. Its use is limited by problems with toxicity (primarily blood disorders) and potential carcinogenicity.
Urinary Retention: Inability to empty the URINARY BLADDER with voiding (URINATION).

Rate of postoperative urinary retention after pelvic organ prolapse surgery as determined by those who failed a standardized void trial. A successful void trial is defined as a postvoid residual of less than half of the voided volume. (NCT03065075)
Timeframe: postoperative day 1

Total and subscale scores reported. Total score range 0-35, with 0 being less symptomatic and 35 being more symptomatic. Total score is sum of individual questions. Seven subgroups address incomplete bladder emptying, frequency, intermittency, urgency, weak stream, straining, nocturia. Each subgroup is scored 0-5 with 5 being most symptomatic. The last question is independent, rates quality of life from 0 (best) to 6 (worst) (NCT03524339)
