phenazopyridine and Injuries

phenazopyridine has been researched along with Injuries in 2 studies

Phenazopyridine: A local anesthetic that has been used in urinary tract disorders. Its use is limited by problems with toxicity (primarily blood disorders) and potential carcinogenicity.
phenazopyridine : A diaminopyridine that is 2,6-diaminopyridine substituted at position 3 by a phenylazo group. A local anesthetic that has topical analgesic effect on mucosa lining of the urinary tract. Its use is limited by problems with toxicity (primarily blood disorders) and potential carcinogenicity.

Injuries: Used with anatomic headings, animals, and sports for wounds and injuries. Excludes cell damage, for which pathology is used.

Trial Outcomes

Additional Interventions: Measured by Use of IV Fluids, IV Lasix, IV Methylene Blue, or Ureteral Stent Placement in OR

this is a composite measure and will be reported as a single value for each arm as number of additional interventions (NCT02424149)
Timeframe: day of surgery (day 0)

Interventioninterventions (Number)

Phenazopyridine3

Physician Confidence Measured by a Survey

"Surgeon response to the question: I am confident that ureteral injury was ruled out in this patient on a 5-point Likert scale where 1 = strongly disagree, 2 = disagree, 3 = neither agree nor disagree, 4 = agree, 5 = strongly agree" (NCT02424149)

Post-operative Urethral Discomfort Measured by Pain Scales

Measured prior to catheter removal using a 10 point visual analog pain scale: Zero represented no pain, Ten represented the most severe pain. (NCT02424149)
Timeframe: post operative day 1

Time to Visualize Ureteral Urine Flow Intraoperatively Measured by Timing in the Operating Room

Timing was performed in the operating room. Time to visualize urine efflux was started at insertion of the cystoscope into the bladder, the time was considered complete when both ureteral orifices had displayed urine efflux. (NCT02424149)
Timeframe: Day of surgery

Trial of Void Results

Number of subjects that failed a back-filled trial of void on the day of hospital discharge, up to 2 days after surgery. (NCT02424149)
Timeframe: Day of hospital discharge

International Prostate Symptom Score

Total and subscale scores reported. Total score range 0-35, with 0 being less symptomatic and 35 being more symptomatic. Total score is sum of individual questions. Seven subgroups address incomplete bladder emptying, frequency, intermittency, urgency, weak stream, straining, nocturia. Each subgroup is scored 0-5 with 5 being most symptomatic. The last question is independent, rates quality of life from 0 (best) to 6 (worst) (NCT03524339)
Timeframe: Within 1 week of surgery
