pentylenetetrazole and Concussive Convulsion

pentylenetetrazole has been researched along with Concussive Convulsion in 8 studies

Pentylenetetrazole: A pharmaceutical agent that displays activity as a central nervous system and respiratory stimulant. It is considered a non-competitive GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID antagonist. Pentylenetetrazole has been used experimentally to study seizure phenomenon and to identify pharmaceuticals that may control seizure susceptibility.
pentetrazol : An organic heterobicyclic compound that is 1H-tetrazole in which the hydrogens at positions 1 and 5 are replaced by a pentane-1,5-diyl group. A central and respiratory stimulant, it was formerly used for the treatment of cough and other respiratory tract disorders, cardiovascular disorders including hypotension, and pruritis.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"While CCI mice have no change in seizure susceptibility at 7d post-injury (dpi), at 70dpi they have reduced latency to PTZ-induced seizure onset, higher seizure frequency and longer seizure duration."1.91Delayed treatment with ceftriaxone reverses the enhanced sensitivity of TBI mice to chemically-induced seizures. ( Burns, MP; Harvey, AC; Longo, BM; Main, BS; Romariz, SAA, 2023)
"Their effects on seizure susceptibility and spontaneous epileptic seizures were evaluated with a pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) test in 2 weeks and with continuous video and wireless electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring between 2 and 6 weeks after injury, respectively."1.62Blocking receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) or toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) prevents posttraumatic epileptogenesis in mice.
