pentobarbital and Burns

pentobarbital has been researched along with Burns in 8 studies

Pentobarbital: A short-acting barbiturate that is effective as a sedative and hypnotic (but not as an anti-anxiety) agent and is usually given orally. It is prescribed more frequently for sleep induction than for sedation but, like similar agents, may lose its effectiveness by the second week of continued administration. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1994, p236)
pentobarbital : A member of the class of barbiturates, the structure of which is that of barbituric acid substituted at C-5 by ethyl and sec-pentyl groups.

Burns: Injuries to tissues caused by contact with heat, steam, chemicals (BURNS, CHEMICAL), electricity (BURNS, ELECTRIC), or the like.

" Isoflurane (ISO), ketamine-xylazine (KX), or pentobarbital (PEN) with or without buprenorphine were administered before scald-burn in 72 rats that were euthanized without anesthesia by decapitation after 24 h and compared with unburned shams."3.76Impact of anesthesia, analgesia, and euthanasia technique on the inflammatory cytokine profile in a rodent model of severe burn injury. ( Al-Mousawi, AM; Branski, LK; Herndon, DN; Jeschke, MG; Kraft, R; Kulp, GA; Mecott, GA; Williams, FN, 2010)
" Compared with pair-fed control rats, pentobarbital demonstrated a significantly prolonged clearance and elimination half-life without a change in volume of distribution."1.27Pharmacokinetics of pentobarbital, quinidine, lidocaine, and theophylline in the thermally injured rat. ( DiGregorio, GJ; Fruncillo, RJ, 1984)
"It has been suggested that acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is induced by a cybernetic imbalance of the central nervous system secondary to alarm reaction-provoked intravascular coagulation into cerebral microvessels."1.27Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS): the prophylactic effect of neurodepressant agents.
