oxyquinoline and Malignant Melanoma

oxyquinoline has been researched along with Malignant Melanoma in 5 studies

Oxyquinoline: An antiseptic with mild fungistatic, bacteriostatic, anthelmintic, and amebicidal action. It is also used as a reagent and metal chelator, as a carrier for radio-indium for diagnostic purposes, and its halogenated derivatives are used in addition as topical anti-infective agents and oral antiamebics.
quinolin-8-ol : A monohydroxyquinoline that is quinoline substituted by a hydroxy group at position 8. Its fungicidal properties are used for the control of grey mould on vines and tomatoes.

"The effect of the transition metal chelator, 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ), was examined on the growth and phenotype expression of B16 mouse melanoma cells."7.68Anti-proliferative effects and phenotypic alterations induced by 8-hydroxyquinoline in melanoma cell lines. ( Beery, E; Nordenberg, J; Novogrodsky, A; Patia, M; Warshawsky, A; Wasserman, L, 1990)
" With the aim of improving the disappointingly low activity of inorganic gallium salts, we have developed the orally bioavailable gallium complex KP46 [tris(8-quinolinolato)gallium(III)] that had already been successfully studied in a phase I clinical trial."5.35The gallium complex KP46 exerts strong activity against primary explanted melanoma cells and induces apoptosis in melanoma cell lines.
