oxyphenbutazone and Injuries

oxyphenbutazone has been researched along with Injuries in 21 studies

Oxyphenbutazone: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Oxyphenbutazone eyedrops have been used abroad in the management of postoperative ocular inflammation, superficial eye injuries, and episcleritis. (From AMA, Drug Evaluations Annual, 1994, p2000) It had been used by mouth in rheumatic disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis but such use is no longer considered justified owing to the risk of severe hematological adverse effects. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p27)
oxyphenbutazone : A metabolite of phenylbutazone obtained by hydroxylation at position 4 of one of the phenyl rings. Commonly used (as its hydrate) to treat pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis and gout, it was withdrawn from the market 1984 following association with blood dyscrasis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Injuries: Used with anatomic headings, animals, and sports for wounds and injuries. Excludes cell damage, for which pathology is used.

"130 patients with edema as the sequel of a traumatic incident were selected for this study, 43 patients were treated with 300 mg N-(2,6-dichloro-m-tolyl)anthranilic acid, sodium salt (meclofenamate sodium, Meclomen) per day for one week, 44 patients received 600 mg oxyphenbutazone per day and 43 patients received placebo."5.05Meclofenamate sodium in the treatment of post-traumatic edema. Report of a controlled double-blind study. ( Honorato Pérez, J; Imizcoz Barriola, JL; Martí Massó, R, 1983)
"Postoperative and posttraumatic hematoma often lead to delayed wound healing and at the same time increase the danger of infection to the loose and infiltrated subcutaneous tissue."1.25[Treatment of postoperative and post-traumatic hematoma in pediatric surgery]. ( Schütze, U; Venske, G, 1975)
