[Studies on the direct radioimmunological determination of triiodothyronine in serum (author's transl)].
The production of highly specific antisera for T3 and the development of a sensitive radioimmunological procedure for the direct measurement of T3 in serum is described. The procedure is described in detail. Measured mean T3 concentrations for various thyroid states (determined with this method) were: normal, 1.77 nmol/l (1.15 mcg/l); normal females on contraceptives, 2.03 nmol/l (1.32 mcg/l); pregnant women, 2.73 nmol/l (1.78 mcg/1); hyperthyroidism 6.30 nmol/l (4.10 mcg/l); hypothyroidism less than 0.18 to 2.63 nmol/l (less than 0.12 to 1.71 mcg/l).
