nitroglycerin and Fetal Growth Retardation

nitroglycerin has been researched along with Fetal Growth Retardation in 10 studies

Nitroglycerin: A volatile vasodilator which relieves ANGINA PECTORIS by stimulating GUANYLATE CYCLASE and lowering cytosolic calcium. It is also sometimes used for TOCOLYSIS and explosives.
nitroglycerol : A nitrate ester that is glycerol in which nitro group(s) replace the hydrogen(s) attached to one or more of the hydroxy groups.
nitroglycerin : A nitroglycerol that is glycerol in which the hydrogen atoms of all three hydroxy groups are replaced by nitro groups. It acts as a prodrug, releasing nitric oxide to open blood vessels and so alleviate heart pain.

Fetal Growth Retardation: Failure of a FETUS to attain expected GROWTH.

"To our knowledge, this is the first time that a combination of aspirin and glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) has been used in the prophylaxis of preeclampsia and fetal growth retardation, and their use associated with not only Doppler screening of the uterine arteries but also regular Doppler follow-up of the fetal arterial and venous circulation."3.70A novel approach to the management of pregnancies complicated by uteroplacental insufficiency and previous stillbirth. " The present data suggest that the oxidative stress and reduced bioavailability of nitric oxide may contribute to attenuation of vasodilator responses to ACh and Ang II, and hyperreactivity to Ang II in the mesentery of preeclamptic rat, which may contribute to the increased peripheral vascular resistance and BP, as well as intrauterine growth restriction in L-NAME-induced PE."1.48Differential responses of mesenteric arterial bed to vasoactive substances in L-NAME-induced preeclampsia: Role of oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction.
