nitrites and Nephrotic Syndrome

nitrites has been researched along with Nephrotic Syndrome in 6 studies

Nitrites: Salts of nitrous acid or compounds containing the group NO2-. The inorganic nitrites of the type MNO2 (where M=metal) are all insoluble, except the alkali nitrites. The organic nitrites may be isomeric, but not identical with the corresponding nitro compounds. (Grant & Hackh's Chemical Dictionary, 5th ed)

Nephrotic Syndrome: A condition characterized by severe PROTEINURIA, greater than 3.5 g/day in an average adult. The substantial loss of protein in the urine results in complications such as HYPOPROTEINEMIA; generalized EDEMA; HYPERTENSION; and HYPERLIPIDEMIAS. Diseases associated with nephrotic syndrome generally cause chronic kidney dysfunction.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Urinary excretion of Na and NO metabolites (NOx), as well as immunodetectable endothelial (eNOS), inducible (iNOS) and neuronal (nNOS) NO synthases were determined in rats with puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN)-induced NS, rats with protein overload proteinuria, Nagase rats (NAR) with inherited analbuminemia, iNOS inhibitor (aminoguanidine)-treated rats, prenephrotic PAN-treated and placebo-treated control rats."3.72Downregulation of nitric oxide synthase in nephrotic syndrome: role of proteinuria.
