nitrendipine and Diabetic Angiopathies

nitrendipine has been researched along with Diabetic Angiopathies in 4 studies

Nitrendipine: A calcium channel blocker with marked vasodilator action. It is an effective antihypertensive agent and differs from other calcium channel blockers in that it does not reduce glomerular filtration rate and is mildly natriuretic, rather than sodium retentive.
nitrendipine : A dihydropyridine that is 1,4-dihydropyridine substituted by methyl groups at positions 2 and 6, a 3-nitrophenyl group at position 4, a ethoxycarbonyl group at position 3 and a methoxycarbonyl group at position 5. It is a calcium-channel blocker used in the treatment of hypertension.

Diabetic Angiopathies: VASCULAR DISEASES that are associated with DIABETES MELLITUS.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"After a 4-week washout period, mildly hypertensive (systolic blood pressure [sBP] > or = 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure [dBP] > or = 90 mmHg) NIDDM patients with albuminuria (15-200 micrograms/min) were randomized into an 8-month-long therapy with either nitrendipine (n = 11) or enalapril (n = 10)."5.08Effects of enalapril and nitrendipine on the excretion of epidermal growth factor and albumin in hypertensive NIDDM patients. ( Hwang, DL; Josefsberg, Z; Lev-Ran, A; Ross, SA, 1995)
" We have investigated whether long-term monotherapy with a calcium antagonist, nitrendipine, prevents the development of overt diabetic nephropathy in type I and type II diabetic patients with mild to moderate hypertension and persistent microalbuminuria (ie, incipient nephropathy)."3.68Nephroprotective effects of nitrendipine in hypertensive type I and type II diabetic patients.
