nitrazepam and Aging

nitrazepam has been researched along with Aging in 9 studies

Nitrazepam: A benzodiazepine derivative used as an anticonvulsant and hypnotic.
nitrazepam : A 1,4-benzodiazepinone that is 1,3-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzodiazepin-2-one which is substituted at positions 5 and 7 by phenyl and nitro groups, respectively. It is used as a hypnotic for the short-term management of insomnia and for the treatment of epileptic spasms in infants (West's syndrome).

Aging: The gradual irreversible changes in structure and function of an organism that occur as a result of the passage of time.

Research Excerpts

" After a single oral dose of nitrazepam 5 mg the most prominent differences between the experimental groups were in the beta-phase half-life mean 29 h in the young volunteers and 40 h in geriatric patients , and in the apparent volume of distribution during the beta-phase of 2."5.26Human pharmacokinetics of nitrazepam: effect of age and diseases. " Concomitant food intake had no apparent influence on the absorption rate or on the bioavailability of nitrazepam in the young subjects, and there was no significant difference in nitrazepam kinetics between young and elderly subjects."1.26Influence of food and of age on nitrazepam kinetics.
