nitrates and Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic

nitrates has been researched along with Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic in 6 studies

Nitrates: Inorganic or organic salts and esters of nitric acid. These compounds contain the NO3- radical.

Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic: A syndrome characterized by persistent or recurrent fatigue, diffuse musculoskeletal pain, sleep disturbances, and subjective cognitive impairment of 6 months duration or longer. Symptoms are not caused by ongoing exertion; are not relieved by rest; and result in a substantial reduction of previous levels of occupational, educational, social, or personal activities. Minor alterations of immune, neuroendocrine, and autonomic function may be associated with this syndrome. There is also considerable overlap between this condition and FIBROMYALGIA. (From Semin Neurol 1998;18(2):237-42; Ann Intern Med 1994 Dec 15;121(12): 953-9)

" This theory appears to be the first to provide a mechanistic explanation for the multiple overlaps of these disease states and it also explains the origin of many of their common symptoms and similarity to both Gulf War syndrome and chronic sequelae of carbon monoxide toxicity."3.71Common etiology of posttraumatic stress disorder, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple chemical sensitivity via elevated nitric oxide/peroxynitrite. ( Pall, ML, 2001)
"Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and chronic fatigue (CF) are distinct diagnostic categories with regard to clinical symptoms, severity of illness and biomarkers."2.49Inflammatory and oxidative and nitrosative stress cascades as new drug targets in myalgic encephalomyelitis and chronic fatigue syndrome. ( Maes, M, 2013)
"The etiology of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) has been both obscure and highly contentious, leading to substantial barriers to both clear diagnosis and effective treatment."1.31Elevated, sustained peroxynitrite levels as the cause of chronic fatigue syndrome. ( Pall, ML, 2000)
