How we did it: neopharyngeal stricture management with the nitinol stent in the laryngectomized patient: our disappointing results. Nitinol stents, as a metallic self-expanding coil, may have a role in such patients. Such stents were inserted in four patients but two had to be removed because of intractable pain. It is concluded that nitinol stents are unlikely to have a significant role in the management of neopharyngeal stricture management.
