niacin and Acetonemia

niacin has been researched along with Acetonemia in 9 studies

Niacin: A water-soluble vitamin of the B complex occurring in various animal and plant tissues. It is required by the body for the formation of coenzymes NAD and NADP. It has PELLAGRA-curative, vasodilating, and antilipemic properties.
vitamin B3 : Any member of a group of vitamers that belong to the chemical structural class called pyridines that exhibit biological activity against vitamin B3 deficiency. Vitamin B3 deficiency causes a condition known as pellagra whose symptoms include depression, dermatitis and diarrhea. The vitamers include nicotinic acid and nicotinamide (and their ionized and salt forms).
nicotinic acid : A pyridinemonocarboxylic acid that is pyridine in which the hydrogen at position 3 is replaced by a carboxy group.

"Severe ketoacidosis induces heart failure and cardiac arrest, but its mechanism is unknown."1.38Inhibitory effect of β-hydroxybutyric acid on L-type Ca(2+) current under β-adrenergic stimulation in guinea pig cardiac ventricular myocytes. ( Akama, Y; Kimura, J; Kurihara, M, 2012)
"Niacin has showed an increase in the level of plasma glucose and a notable decrease in the amount of blood triglyceride, beta-hydroxy butyrate and total protein, which may be due to the effect of this vitamin on the energy metabolism in cows."1.35Effects of niacin on milk production and blood parameters in early lactation of dairy cows. ( Ghorbani, B; Vahdani, N; Zerehdaran, S, 2008)
"Cows with ketonuria (from ++ up to + positive results with the nitroprusside tests) and hydroglycaemia (blood sugar up to 30 mg) were treated with monensine at the rate of 125 mg, in the morning and in the evening or with nicotinic acid at 3 g and the same frequency for 6-7 consecutive days."1.27[Therapeutic and prophylactic action of monensin and nicotinic acid in cows with subclinical ketosis].
