nabumetone and Dermatitis, Contact, Phototoxic

nabumetone has been researched along with Dermatitis, Contact, Phototoxic in 2 studies

Nabumetone: A butanone non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX2) inhibitor that is used in the management of pain associated with OSTEOARTHRITIS and RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS.
nabumetone : A methyl ketone that is 2-butanone in which one of the methyl hydrogens at position 4 is replaced by a 6-methoxy-2-naphthyl group. A prodrug that is converted to the active metabolite, 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid, following oral administration. It is shown to have a slightly lower risk of gastrointestinal side effects than most other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The photobiological properties of 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid (6-MNAA) were studied using a variety of in vitro phototoxicity assays: photohemolysis, photoperoxidation of linoleic acid, photosensitized degradation of histidine and thymine and the Candida phototoxicity test."3.73Photosensitizing properties of 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid, the major metabolite of the phototoxic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug nabumetone. ( Canudas, N; Castelli, C; Fuentes, J; Taddei, A; Villamizar, JE; Zamora, D, 2005)
"The photolability of nabumetone (NB, 1, 4-[6-methoxy-2-naphthalenyl]-2-butanone) and its photobiological properties were studied under aerobic and anaerobic conditions using a variety of in vitro phototoxicity assays: photohemolysis, photoperoxidation of linoleic acid, and photosensitized degradation of histidine and thymine."3.70Photobiological properties of nabumetone (4-[6-methoxy-2-naphthalenyl]-2-butanone), a novel non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic agent.
