mitomycin and Macular Edema

mitomycin has been researched along with Macular Edema in 3 studies

Mitomycin: An antineoplastic antibiotic produced by Streptomyces caespitosus. It is one of the bi- or tri-functional ALKYLATING AGENTS causing cross-linking of DNA and inhibition of DNA synthesis.
mitomycin : A family of aziridine-containing natural products isolated from Streptomyces caespitosus or Streptomyces lavendulae.

Macular Edema: Fluid accumulation in the outer layer of the MACULA LUTEA that results from intraocular or systemic insults. It may develop in a diffuse pattern where the macula appears thickened or it may acquire the characteristic petaloid appearance referred to as cystoid macular edema. Although macular edema may be associated with various underlying conditions, it is most commonly seen following intraocular surgery, venous occlusive disease, DIABETIC RETINOPATHY, and posterior segment inflammatory disease. "The cases reported concern 5 eyes in four DEX-I IVI high-responder patients whose intraocular pressure (IOP) returned to normal after administration of a XEN gel stent with mitomycin subconjunctival injection, thus allowing the continued use of DEX-I which was the only therapeutic option for these patients."3.91XEN Gel Stent to Treat Intraocular Hypertension After Dexamethasone-Implant Intravitreal Injections: 5 Cases.
