midazolam and Injuries, Multiple

midazolam has been researched along with Injuries, Multiple in 12 studies

Midazolam: A short-acting hypnotic-sedative drug with anxiolytic and amnestic properties. It is used in dentistry, cardiac surgery, endoscopic procedures, as preanesthetic medication, and as an adjunct to local anesthesia. The short duration and cardiorespiratory stability makes it useful in poor-risk, elderly, and cardiac patients. It is water-soluble at pH less than 4 and lipid-soluble at physiological pH.
midazolam : An imidazobenzodiazepine that is 4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepine which is substituted by a methyl, 2-fluorophenyl and chloro groups at positions 1, 6 and 8, respectively.

Research Excerpts

"An open, prospective study was carried out on 45 patients with multiple injuries to compare the mortality and incidence of sepsis between those given early total enteral nutrition (TEN) when sedated with propofol and historical controls who had been given total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and sedated with midazolam."5.07Long-term sedation in the ICU: enteral versus parenteral feeding. ( Bataillie, K; Baute, L; Demeyer, I, 1994)
"Sixty-five critical ill children with multiple trauma admitted to pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of Anhui Province Children's Hospital from January 2014 to September 2016 were enrolled, who were randomly divided into dexmedetomidine group (33 cases) and midazolam group (32 cases)."2.84[Effects of different sedation regimens on sedation and inflammatory response in critically ill children with multiple trauma]. ( Jin, D; Song, C; Sun, J; Tong, W; Wang, Y; Xu, D, 2017)
"Thirty patients with multiple trauma were randomly assigned to either breathe spontaneously with APRV (APRV Group) (n = 15) or to receive pressure-controlled, time-cycled mechanical ventilation (PCV) for 72 h followed by weaning with APRV (PCV Group) (n = 15)."2.70Long-term effects of spontaneous breathing during ventilatory support in patients with acute lung injury. ( Mutz, N; Putensen, C; Stüber, F; Von Spiegel, T; Wrigge, H; Zech, S; Zinserling, J, 2001)
"Midazolam was found to be a safe and viable alternative to muscle relaxants, allowing endotracheal intubation and ventilation, in addition to other invasive procedures, to be carried out with minimal distress to the patient."2.67The use of midazolam in trauma resuscitation. ( Deo, S; Knottenbelt, JD, 1994)
"Measurements included plasma concentration time profiles of midazolam and pharmacokinetic parameters, such as elimination half-life, clearance, and volume of distribution."1.28Pharmacokinetics of midazolam administered by continuous intravenous infusion to intensive care patients. ( Crevoisier, C; Fritz, ME; Malacrida, R; Suter, PM, 1992)
