midazolam and Heart Disease, Ischemic

midazolam has been researched along with Heart Disease, Ischemic in 19 studies

Midazolam: A short-acting hypnotic-sedative drug with anxiolytic and amnestic properties. It is used in dentistry, cardiac surgery, endoscopic procedures, as preanesthetic medication, and as an adjunct to local anesthesia. The short duration and cardiorespiratory stability makes it useful in poor-risk, elderly, and cardiac patients. It is water-soluble at pH less than 4 and lipid-soluble at physiological pH.
midazolam : An imidazobenzodiazepine that is 4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepine which is substituted by a methyl, 2-fluorophenyl and chloro groups at positions 1, 6 and 8, respectively.

"It is hypothesized that because of its potential to increase coronary flow and simultaneously decrease myocardial performance and O2 consumption, midazolam would minimize regional metabolic impairment during myocardial ischemia."3.69Midazolam's effects on myocardial load and coronary perfusion: reduced regional O2 consumption and lactate production during ischemia in dogs. ( Rush, W; Sidi, A, 1994)
"Myocardial ischemia was assessed perioperatively by monitoring ST segment deviation via continuous three-lead Holter electrocardiography, and it was evaluated during operation by monitoring left ventricular wall motion abnormality via transesophageal echocardiography."2.68Multicenter study of target-controlled infusion of propofol-sufentanil or sufentanil-midazolam for coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
