metyrapone has been researched along with Shock, Septic in 5 studies
Metyrapone: An inhibitor of the enzyme STEROID 11-BETA-MONOOXYGENASE. It is used as a test of the feedback hypothalamic-pituitary mechanism in the diagnosis of CUSHING SYNDROME.
metyrapone : An aromatic ketone that is 3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one in which the methyl groups at positions 1 and 4 are replaced by pyridin-3-yl groups. A steroid 11beta-monooxygenase (EC 1.14.15.4) inhibitor, it is used in the diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency.
Shock, Septic: Sepsis associated with HYPOTENSION or hypoperfusion despite adequate fluid resuscitation. Perfusion abnormalities may include but are not limited to LACTIC ACIDOSIS; OLIGURIA; or acute alteration in mental status.

"The aim of this study was to determine the effects of previous administration of metyrapone (met) on the acute lung injury (ALI) induced by caecal ligation and puncture (CLP) and to explore met's relationship with endogenous glucocorticoids (GCs) as measured by inflammatory, oxidative and functional parameters." | 3.81 | Inhibition of endogenous glucocorticoid synthesis aggravates lung injury triggered by septic shock in rats. ( Incerpi, EK; Oliveira, LM; Pereira, EM; Soncini, R, 2015) |
"We used the overnight metyrapone stimulation test to investigate the diagnostic value of the standard cosyntropin stimulation test, and the prevalence of sepsis-associated adrenal insufficiency." | 3.73 | Diagnosis of adrenal insufficiency in severe sepsis and septic shock. " For example, a marked fall in systemic blood pressure and dynamic lung compliance is seen in both models, but in the present gram-positive sepsis model, much less interleukin-8 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha are produced." | 3.70 | Synergistic septicemic action of the gram-positive bacterial cell wall components peptidoglycan and lipoteichoic acid in the pig in vivo.
