mescaline and Behavior Disorders

mescaline has been researched along with Behavior Disorders in 44 studies

Mescaline: Hallucinogenic alkaloid isolated from the flowering heads (peyote) of Lophophora (formerly Anhalonium) williamsii, a Mexican cactus used in Indian religious rites and as an experimental psychotomimetic. Among its cellular effects are agonist actions at some types of serotonin receptors. It has no accepted therapeutic uses although it is legal for religious use by members of the Native American Church.
mescaline : A phenethylamine alkaloid that is phenethylamine substituted at positions 3, 4 and 5 by methoxy groups.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychoactive phenethylamine found in several cacti and historically used ceremonially by Indigenous and Latin American populations."1.72The epidemiology of mescaline use: Pattern of use, motivations for consumption, and perceived consequences, benefits, and acute and enduring subjective effects. ( Davis, AK; Davis, D; Dolan, SB; Haas, TF; Lancelotta, R; Ramaekers, JG; Timmermann, C; Uthaug, MV, 2022)
"D-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) displays (1) the phenylethylamine pattern present in mescaline, cyclazocine and catecholamines and (2) the 4-substituted tryptamine structure of psilocybin which is a serotonin analog."1.25Therapeutic usefulness of hallucinogenic drugs as a function of their chemical structure. ( Fischer, R; Goldman, H, 1975)
