menthol and Carcinoma, Hepatocellular

menthol has been researched along with Carcinoma, Hepatocellular in 1 studies

Menthol: A monoterpene cyclohexanol produced from mint oils.

Carcinoma, Hepatocellular: A primary malignant neoplasm of epithelial liver cells. It ranges from a well-differentiated tumor with EPITHELIAL CELLS indistinguishable from normal HEPATOCYTES to a poorly differentiated neoplasm. The cells may be uniform or markedly pleomorphic, or form GIANT CELLS. Several classification schemes have been suggested.

Research Excerpts

"The aim of the present study was to examine changes in the expression and activity of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells after exposure to menthol, and their relationship to the cytotoxicity of and apoptotic responses to doxorubicin (DOX), a substrate of P-gp, in the cells."3.96Reduced cytotoxicity in doxorubicin-exposed HepG2 cells pretreated with menthol due to upregulation of P-glycoprotein.
