maprotiline and Brain Neoplasms

maprotiline has been researched along with Brain Neoplasms in 2 studies

Maprotiline: A bridged-ring tetracyclic antidepressant that is both mechanistically and functionally similar to the tricyclic antidepressants, including side effects associated with its use.

Brain Neoplasms: Neoplasms of the intracranial components of the central nervous system, including the cerebral hemispheres, basal ganglia, hypothalamus, thalamus, brain stem, and cerebellum. Brain neoplasms are subdivided into primary (originating from brain tissue) and secondary (i.e., metastatic) forms. Primary neoplasms are subdivided into benign and malignant forms. In general, brain tumors may also be classified by age of onset, histologic type, or presenting location in the brain.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The beta-adrenoceptor-coupled adenylate cyclase system in rat C6 glioma cells displays many characteristics observed in brain tissue: using nonlinear regression analysis of agonist competition binding curves, we demonstrated that the bulk of beta-adrenoceptors show high nanomolar affinity for isoproterenol; like in brain tissue, Gpp(NH)p does not shift agonist competition binding curves to the right; and the agonist isoproterenol rapidly downregulates the number of beta-adrenoceptors and deamplifies the norepinephrine signal."7.68The beta-adrenoceptor-coupled adenylate cyclase system in rat C6 glioma cells. Deamplification by isoproterenol and oxaprotiline. ( Bieck, PR; Duhl, DM; Gillespie, DD; Manier, DH; Sulser, F, 1992)
