lysergic acid diethylamide and Abortion, Spontaneous

lysergic acid diethylamide has been researched along with Abortion, Spontaneous in 13 studies

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide: Semisynthetic derivative of ergot (Claviceps purpurea). It has complex effects on serotonergic systems including antagonism at some peripheral serotonin receptors, both agonist and antagonist actions at central nervous system serotonin receptors, and possibly effects on serotonin turnover. It is a potent hallucinogen, but the mechanisms of that effect are not well understood.
lysergic acid diethylamide : An ergoline alkaloid arising from formal condensation of lysergic acid with diethylamine.

Abortion, Spontaneous: Expulsion of the product of FERTILIZATION before completing the term of GESTATION and without deliberate interference.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"One of five rats given a single subcutaneous injection of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) early in pregnancy appeared to abort early; two delivered stunted stillborn offspring at term, one delivered a littler of seven healthy and one underdeveloped young, and the last one delivered an apparently normal litter."3.64LSD: injection early in pregnancy produces abnormalities in offspring of rats.
