Picroliv protects against alcohol-induced chronic hepatotoxicity in rats. Planta medica, 1996, Volume: 62, Issue:3 Daily administration of ethyl alcohol (3.76 g/kg, p.o.) for 45 days resulted in significant changes in several biochemical parameters of the liver and serum of albino rats. After exposure to alcohol for 30 days when Picroliv (12 mg/kg, p.o.), an iridoid glycoside fraction of Picrorhiza kurroa, was administered for 15 days along with alcohol, the degree of change in most of the parameters was reduced.
