ketanserin and Diabetic Neuropathies

ketanserin has been researched along with Diabetic Neuropathies in 3 studies

Ketanserin: A selective serotonin receptor antagonist with weak adrenergic receptor blocking properties. The drug is effective in lowering blood pressure in essential hypertension. It also inhibits platelet aggregation. It is well tolerated and is particularly effective in older patients.
ketanserin : A member of the class of quinazolines that is quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione which is substituted at position 3 by a 2-[4-(p-fluorobenzoyl)piperidin-1-yl]ethyl group.

Diabetic Neuropathies: Peripheral, autonomic, and cranial nerve disorders that are associated with DIABETES MELLITUS. These conditions usually result from diabetic microvascular injury involving small blood vessels that supply nerves (VASA NERVORUM). Relatively common conditions which may be associated with diabetic neuropathy include third nerve palsy (see OCULOMOTOR NERVE DISEASES); MONONEUROPATHY; mononeuropathy multiplex; diabetic amyotrophy; a painful POLYNEUROPATHY; autonomic neuropathy; and thoracoabdominal neuropathy. "The streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat model was used to compare the efficacy of duloxetine, 5-HT, the 5-HT(2A) receptor agonist [1-(2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenyl)-2-aminopropane hydrochloride (DOI)] and two antagonists (ketanserin and pruvanserin) on tactile allodynia."3.77A spinal mechanism of action for duloxetine in a rat model of painful diabetic neuropathy.
