isoniazid and Porphyrias

isoniazid has been researched along with Porphyrias in 17 studies

Hydra: A genus of freshwater polyps in the family Hydridae, order Hydroida, class HYDROZOA. They are of special interest because of their complex organization and because their adult organization corresponds roughly to the gastrula of higher animals.
hydrazide : Compounds derived from oxoacids RkE(=O)l(OH)m (l =/= 0) by replacing -OH by -NRNR2 (R groups are commonly H). (IUPAC).

Porphyrias: A diverse group of metabolic diseases characterized by errors in the biosynthetic pathway of HEME in the LIVER, the BONE MARROW, or both. They are classified by the deficiency of specific enzymes, the tissue site of enzyme defect, or the clinical features that include neurological (acute) or cutaneous (skin lesions). Porphyrias can be hereditary or acquired as a result of toxicity to the hepatic or erythropoietic marrow tissues.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"The results of our previous studies demonstrated that isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INH) can aggravate griseofulvin (GF)-induced protoporphyria in mice."3.69Relationship between N-acetyltransferase (NAT) activity and liver protoporphyrin level in experimental porphyria. ( Irifune, H; Nonaka, S; Ohgami, T; Watanabe, M, 1996)
"In patients with peripheral neuropathies it was often possible to obtain nerve velocities with signal amplitudes as low as 0·1 μV and these were often slower than those obtained from the normal subjects."1.25Sensory conduction in peroneal and posterior tibial nerves using averaging techniques.
