ipriflavone and Pregnancy

ipriflavone has been researched along with Pregnancy in 4 studies

ipriflavone : A member of the class of isoflavones that is isoflavone in which the hydrogen at position 7 is replaced by an isopropoxy group. A synthetic isoflavone, it was formerly used for the treatment of osteoporosis, although a randomised controlled study failed to show any benefit. It is still used to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women.

Pregnancy: The status during which female mammals carry their developing young (EMBRYOS or FETUSES) in utero before birth, beginning from FERTILIZATION to BIRTH.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Ipriflavone did not cause maternal toxicity, but increased triglyceride levels and reduced hematocrit at higher doses."1.38[Effect of ipriflavone on Wistar rats and their litters]. ( Andrade, AT; Bellei, PM; Guerra, Mde O; Peters, VM; Terra, MM, 2012)
"Ipriflavone is an isoflavone derivative used in the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis in humans."1.29Inhibition of parathyroid hormone-stimulated resorption in cultured fetal rat long bones by the main metabolites of ipriflavone. "The effect of ipriflavone on bone resorption was apparently not due to its toxicity on bone cells, since the inhibition was reversible."1.27The effect of ipriflavone (TC-80) on bone resorption in tissue culture. ( Fujita, T; Ito, T; Kitazaki, T; Tsuda, M, 1986)
