ioxaglate and Ventricular Fibrillation

ioxaglate has been researched along with Ventricular Fibrillation in 11 studies

Ioxaglic Acid: A low-osmolar, ionic contrast medium used in various radiographic procedures.
ioxaglic acid : A benzenedicarboxamide compound having N-substituted carbamoyl groups at the 1- and 3-positions, iodo substituents at the 2-, 4- and 6-positions and an acetyl(methyl)amino group at the 5-position.

Ventricular Fibrillation: A potentially lethal cardiac arrhythmia that is characterized by uncoordinated extremely rapid firing of electrical impulses (400-600/min) in HEART VENTRICLES. Such asynchronous ventricular quivering or fibrillation prevents any effective cardiac output and results in unconsciousness (SYNCOPE). It is one of the major electrocardiographic patterns seen with CARDIAC ARREST.

"The incidence of major ECG changes, particularly ventricular fibrillation, was evaluated in rabbits during prolonged, selective right coronary injection of sodium/meglumine ioxaglate (Hexabrix 160) and iohexol (Omnipaque 140), two isotonic contrast media."7.67Incidence of ventricular fibrillation during coronary arteriography in the rabbit. A comparative study of isotonic ioxaglate and iohexol. ( Bonnemain, B; Cardinal, A; Donadieu, AM; Hartl, C, 1987)
"Of 13 injections with each contrast medium, ioxaglate induced ventricular fibrillation in 11 after 34 +/- 5 sec, iotrolan in 6 after 42 +/- 4 sec, and iodixanol in 3 after 61 +/- 1 sec."3.69Contrast media-induced ventricular fibrillation: an experimental study of the effects of dimeric contrast media during wedged catheter injection in dogs.
