Bilateral femoral neck fractures as a complication of myelography.
This paper discusses two cases of bilateral subcapital fracture of the proximal femur as a complication of myelography with Conray 60. The literature is reviewed. Topics: Adult; Female; Femoral Neck Fractures; Femur Head Necrosis; Femur Neck; Hip Prosthesis; Humans; Iothalamate Meglumine; Male; Muscle Spasticity; Myelography; Pseudarthrosis | 1980 |
Neurological complications, following lumbar radiculography with Dimer X.
Three cases developing increasing neurological deficit within 24 hours of lumbar radiculography with Dimer X are reported. All three developed severe low back and sciatic pain, and myoclonic spasms within one hour of the examination. In each a large intervertebral disc prolapse was outlined. Two cases developed near complete paraplegia before surgical decompression. Following surgery, two patients made a complete rapid recovery, and the other has recovered partially. Topics: Adult; Back Pain; Decompression; Humans; Intervertebral Disc Displacement; Iothalamate Meglumine; Lumbosacral Region; Male; Middle Aged; Muscle Spasticity; Paraplegia; Radiography; Spinal Nerve Roots; Time Factors | 1979 |
Anesthetic management of conray toxicity.
Conray (meglumine iothalamate), the contrast media frequently used in shuntograms for diagnosing malfunctioning ventriculo-peritoneal shunts, will occasionally cause severe muscular spasms and seizures. In this article, the authors describe anesthetic and critical care management of a case with this complication. Topics: Anesthesia, Inhalation; Anesthesia, Intravenous; Cerebrospinal Fluid Shunts; Child; Diazepam; Female; Humans; Hyperventilation; Iothalamate Meglumine; Muscle Spasticity; Pancuronium; Positive-Pressure Respiration; Seizures; Thiopental | 1978 |
