iodine and Child Malnutrition

iodine has been researched along with Child Malnutrition in 33 studies

Iodine: A nonmetallic element of the halogen group that is represented by the atomic symbol I, atomic number 53, and atomic weight of 126.90. It is a nutritionally essential element, especially important in thyroid hormone synthesis. In solution, it has anti-infective properties and is used topically.
diiodine : Molecule comprising two covalently bonded iodine atoms with overall zero charge..

Child Malnutrition: Malnutrition occurring in children ages 2 to 12 years, which is due to insufficient intake of food, dietary nutrients, or a pathophysiologic condition which prevents the absorption and utilization of food. Growth and development are markedly affected.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Using country-level data and an ecological study design, we explored the global associations between women's educational attainment and: a) anemia and vitamin A deficiency (VAD) in children aged 6-59 months; b) anemia in non-pregnant women; and c) zinc deficiency, urinary iodine excretion (UIE), and the proportion of infants protected against iodine deficiency in the general population Cross-sectional relationships (2005-2013) were assessed using linear regression models."3.88Education and micronutrient deficiencies: an ecological study exploring interactions between women's schooling and children's micronutrient status. ( Aguayo, VM; Harding, KL; Masters, WA; Webb, P, 2018)
" Zinc and iron intakes are not only low, but the bioavailability of these nutrients is poor because of the high phytate, fiber and tea content of the diet."2.39Onset and evolution of stunting in infants and children. Examples from the Human Nutrition Collaborative Research Support Program. Kenya and Egypt studies. ( Harrison, GG; Neumann, CG, 1994)
