Involucrin expression in vulvar lesions.
Involucrin, a precursor of the envelope protein present in human stratum corneum, may be used as a histologic marker. Involucrin expression was studied in biopsy specimens from different types of vulvar lesions. In general, the pattern of staining for involucrin has been the one described for similar pathologies of the integument in other bodily areas. However, an unexpected pattern was noted in lichen sclerosus of the vulva. Topics: Epithelium; Female; Humans; Immunoenzyme Techniques; Protein Precursors; Vulva; Vulvar Diseases | 1986 |
