indomethacin and Fish Diseases

indomethacin has been researched along with Fish Diseases in 4 studies

Indomethacin: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that inhibits CYCLOOXYGENASE, which is necessary for the formation of PROSTAGLANDINS and other AUTACOIDS. It also inhibits the motility of POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES.
indometacin : A member of the class of indole-3-acetic acids that is indole-3-acetic acid in which the indole ring is substituted at positions 1, 2 and 5 by p-chlorobenzoyl, methyl, and methoxy groups, respectively. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis and tendinitis.

Fish Diseases: Diseases of freshwater, marine, hatchery or aquarium fish. This term includes diseases of both teleosts (true fish) and elasmobranchs (sharks, rays and skates).

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
"Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that specifically inhibits synthesis of the proinflammatory mediator prostaglandins."1.34In vitro activity of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin on a scuticociliate parasite of farmed turbot. " As the dosage of spores injected into the winter flounder increased from 3 X 10(3)/ml to 3 X 10(8)/ml, the level of serum IgM's decreased proportionally."1.27Immunoglobulin levels of the winter flounder (Pseudopleuronectes americanus) and the summer flounder (Paralichthys dentatus) injected with the microsporidan parasite Glugea stephani.
