indomethacin and Electron Transport Chain Deficiencies, Mitochondrial

indomethacin has been researched along with Electron Transport Chain Deficiencies, Mitochondrial in 4 studies

Indomethacin: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that inhibits CYCLOOXYGENASE, which is necessary for the formation of PROSTAGLANDINS and other AUTACOIDS. It also inhibits the motility of POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES.
indometacin : A member of the class of indole-3-acetic acids that is indole-3-acetic acid in which the indole ring is substituted at positions 1, 2 and 5 by p-chlorobenzoyl, methyl, and methoxy groups, respectively. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis and tendinitis.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" In this study, PVR was induced in pups in utero by exposure of pregnant dams to indomethacin and hypoxia and cardiac lipids, echocardiographic function and cardiomyocyte mitochondrial function were subsequently examined."4.12Altered cardiolipin metabolism is associated with cardiac mitochondrial dysfunction in pulmonary vascular remodeled perinatal rat pups. ( Cole, LK; Dolinsky, VW; Hatch, GM; Sparagna, GC, 2022)
"Quercetin was the most efficient in protecting against mitochondrial dysfunction; this could be due to its ability to enter cells and accumulate in mitochondria."1.38Differential protective effects of quercetin, resveratrol, rutin and epigallocatechin gallate against mitochondrial dysfunction induced by indomethacin in Caco-2 cells. ( Carrasco-Pozo, C; Gotteland, M; Mizgier, ML; Speisky, H, 2012)
"Pre-treatment with curcumin was found to ameliorate these drug-induced changes."1.35Curcumin attenuates indomethacin-induced oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. ( Balasubramanian, KA; Basivireddy, J; Jacob, M; Sivalingam, N, 2008)
