indomethacin and Coronary Vasospasm

indomethacin has been researched along with Coronary Vasospasm in 8 studies

Indomethacin: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAID) that inhibits CYCLOOXYGENASE, which is necessary for the formation of PROSTAGLANDINS and other AUTACOIDS. It also inhibits the motility of POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES.
indometacin : A member of the class of indole-3-acetic acids that is indole-3-acetic acid in which the indole ring is substituted at positions 1, 2 and 5 by p-chlorobenzoyl, methyl, and methoxy groups, respectively. A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, it is used in the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint disorders including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, bursitis and tendinitis.

Coronary Vasospasm: Spasm of the large- or medium-sized coronary arteries.

Research Excerpts

ExcerptRelevanceReference
" Both patients exhibited anaphylactic manifestations, such as general rash and urticaria, along with angina pectoris with electrocardiographic ST-segment elevations after suppository administration of diclofenac sodium or indomethacin, the most commonly used NSAIDs."3.69Vasospastic angina induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. ( Eguchi, H; Haramaki, N; Hashino, T; Ichiki, K; Ikeda, H; Imaizumi, T; Kai, H; Katoh, A; Mori, E; Ueno, T; Ueyama, T, 1997)
" The administration of intravenous ergonovine did not provoke ST-segment shifts or arrhythmias."3.67Coronary artery spasm after abrupt withdrawal of nitroglycerin in rabbits. ( Cook, L; Reeves, WC; Whitesell, L; Wood, MA, 1985)
"In 67 dogs with a 60-80% coronary stenosis produced by an external constricting plastic ring, blood flow measured with an electromagnetic flowmeter showed cyclical flow reductions of varying magnitude and duration, and then an abrupt return to control flow."1.26Blood flow reductions in stenosed canine coronary arteries: vasospasm or platelet aggregation?
